At my appointment on Monday my doctor noticed that my blood pressure was high. He rechecked it at the end of the appointment and it did go down, but they wanted me to keep a close eye on it. I went to the school nurse everyday to have her check it and even though it was a little high, it wasn't alarming. On Thursday I was grading papers after my kids left and a teacher came in to talk. She looked at me and said I looked flush and I needed to go check my blood pressure. It was very high so I called my OB nurse and she told me to go directly to the hospital. I was not ready for that news! Richard met me there and we got checked in and hooked up to the machines. After laying down for 30 minutes it went down, which was great! The nurse talked with my doctor and then came in to deliver the news...I couldn't go back to work. They have put me on bed rest. Well, it is more like couch rest.
I went to school yesterday morning to finish up some things and tell my kids goodbye. I will not be going back after the baby comes so it was a little emotional for all of us. It was not the plan for me to have to leave to suddenly so everyone was really surprised. I will go back for a little bit today - they have been planning for weeks to throw me a baby shower and there is no way I can miss that!
My mom brought over my grandma's blood pressure cuff so I have been able to check it and keep a close eye on it. I am doing pretty well as long as I don't do too much - which is hard when all I want to do is get ready for baby.
I am trying really hard to enjoy this time...I know it is not going to ever happen again. Thanks, Doug, for the lap top! I can keep my feet up and pass the time. It has been very nice!
I go back to the doctor on Tuesday so I will keep everyone updated.
OH...baby is doing fine. The nurse at the hospital said everything sounded great and it is right where they like to see it. It is still moving a lot and it's heart rate was perfect!
